Many people graduate college and land a job that sits them behind a desk for 40 hours a week. It is important that they are able to support themselves and their family; unfortunately people tend to forget about one of the most important and valuable things in their life; their HEALTH. As men age we know that their metabolism naturally slows down and testosterone levels naturally lower as well; especially if they don’t do anything about it. It’s important to be healthy and stay active, not only for yourself but for your family and friends. You want to be able to play sports with your kids or go on a hike with family and feel great doing it. So if you have a desk job, here are a few things you can do at work:
- Make sure you pack healthy meals and snacks; stay away from candy and sugary drinks!
- Drink lots of water throughout the day, if you need energy substitute green tea!
- Take walks around the office and use the stairs instead of the elevator.
Outside of work you can do many things to stay active and fit. If you were an athlete at some point in your life get back to your roots and join a basketball or softball league with some friends and family, make exercise fun and enjoyable.
Get involved at a gym; lifting weights is an excellent way to boost metabolism and testosterone levels back up. Grab some weight and lift…but be smart of course! If getting a trainer will help you stay motivated and get you on track then make the investment to better yourself. Take classes at the gym there are plenty of gyms that offer boot camps and other sorts of classes to benefit your health.
Let as many people close to you know that you are going to get involved with some sort of activity to get yourself into better shape. You may end up motivating someone else to do the same and then you have a gym partner! Having a gym partner is a great way to stay on track and keep each other responsible.
Bottom line is that you will not be healthy unless you treat your body right and do the small things like eating healthy and staying active. Your kids, your friends, family members and peers want nothing more than for you to be healthy so that you can be in their lives as long as possible so start making small changes to better your health, you can do it!
