Nutrition advice from Matt Carrigan -Wellness Specialist and Personal Trainer from Cincinnati, OH.
You can push yourself as hard as your body can handle in the gym, but if your diet isn’t right, you will never see all six of those abs or have the definition that you should be seeing with all that effort. You don’t need some extreme diet where you aren’t eating a certain food group either. Make sure you are buying fresh, natural foods and cooking at home as much as you can. Eating 4-6 smaller meals throughout the day is the best for your metabolism. Eating within a few hours before bedtime is also something you should avoid. You want a balance of healthy protein, carbs, fats, fruits and vegetables. Some examples of foods with healthy carbs are sweet potatoes, old-fashioned oatmeal, and brown rice. Some examples of foods with healthy fats are walnuts, avocado, and olive oil.
