HomeGoods partnered with Emmy-nominated set decorator Amy Wells (of Mad Men, Scandal, House and more) to create distinct looks for TV viewing styles, and she outlined easy ways for guys to get their place ready for fall TV – whether you’re just tuning in to watch the game or you’re settling in for a full-on binge-watching marathon. She styled out a few rooms with HomeGoods merch (along with some awesome vintage finds) based on how different people watch TV.
1. Floating Shelves are a Game Changer – For small spaces or cramped apartments, floating shelves are a must. I transformed a corner of this room into a mini kitchen space (complete with snack food for easy access) by simply hanging these shelves.
2. Think Outside the… Coffee Table – I love using alternative pieces for a coffee table, like this cowhide ottoman I found at HomeGoods. Just place a tray on top to collect miscellaneous items, and you have a really cool-looking table – which is also a comfy spot to prop your feet up when you’re 6 hours deep into a TV marathon.
3. Dimension Adds Drama – Adding in some dimension to a room – like hanging an accent from the ceiling, like this old model plane –brings in unexpected depth. It’s definitely a conversation starter! It’s always more unique to have dimensional items as well as pictures on the wall.
4. Show Off Your Stuff – A beautiful mess can be an amazing way for your personality to come to life in your home. Buy glass-paneled cabinets that allow you to see inside, and you can display all of your favorite things you’ve collected over the years, like old books and vintage records.
